DOVER FERRY OPERATOR ANNOUNCES SIXTH CONSECUTIVE RECORD BREAKING YEAR
DFDS SEAWAYS (formerly Norfolkline), increases market share on the English Channel for a sixth consecutive year in 2010 and cements its’ position as the number 2 car ferry operator in Dover with a 30% market share.
Figures from IRN (Ferrystats) reveal that during 2010, DFDS Seaways carried over 850,000 cars between Dover and Dunkirk (over a tenfold increase on the 81,000 cars carried in 2003).

Chris Newey, director of passenger services for the English Channel route at DFDS Seaways, said: “We are proud to have built such an excellent team (both ashore and on-board) who have demonstrably provided such a superb service for the motoring consumers. Customers have voted with their business. The growth is primarily a result of the team’s hard work but undoubtedly we have also benefited from having a new fleet of purpose built vessels. With DFDS Seaways from Dover, no matter which sailing you choose you are guaranteed an identical ‘state of the art travel experience’. This is a huge advantage for customers as alternative operators, by and large, offer a mixture of departures on old and new vessels. Moreover, when you consider Dunkirk is a much less congested port than Calais it is not surprising that once consumers have discovered our service they become strong advocates.
“To crown the service in 2010, we became part of the DFDS Seaways. Customers now have the reassurance of travelling with the largest ferry company in Northern Europe – a shipping company with over a hundred years of heritage”.
