Dover – White Cliffs Country

Dover, the closest town in Kent to the continent, is the gateway to England. Now the world's busiest ferry port, it is famed for its range of defences and military architecture.

The landscape is unforgettable, and the views from the world famous White Cliffs of Dover are simply breathtaking. The cliffs themselves and busy Dover Harbour below are best viewed from the top of the White Cliffs or from the Western Heights. On a good day you can see France, 21 miles (30 kms) across the Channel.

Visit the world famous Dover Castle, which stands grandly on the cliffs above the sea with its dungeons and secret wartime tunnels. Today you can see displays centering on the Second World War.
